Alexander Verbart is a mechanical engineer specialized in solid and fluid mechanics from Delft University of Technology.
In 2015 he obtained his PhD from the same university in a joint project with the National Aerospace Laboratory of the Netherlands. During his PhD he investigated how to deal with stress constraints in topology optimization.
Currently, he is enrolled as a postdoctoral researcher at DTU Wind Energy within ABYSS Work Package 3 “Optimal Design of Bottom-fixed Structures”. The general aim of this project is to cost-optimize a jacket while satisfying structural criteria, such as strength, eigenfrequencies, stiffness and fatigue. His research focuses on finding tractable formulations to solve structural optimization problems under many dynamic loads and constraints.
